You may ask, “what is the difference between a wedding video versus a cinematic wedding film?” Think about when you are watching a sporting event on television, such as a baseball, basketball, or football game. Generally each shot is just focused on the ball, the athlete with the ball and what is going on in that immediate area. These are not shots designed to illicit an emotion, nor with a composed soundtrack playing in the background. The video looks, well like it’s “live” and what our eyes would see in person if you were watching at the game. Now think about what a movie looks like. It certainly doesn’t look “live” and like what your eyes would necessarily see if you were there in person. There’s all sorts of techniques, from lighting, slow motion, and sound in play to immerse you/move you.
A wedding video is going to be more like watching a sporting event, with multiple camera angles and the sights and sounds as they happen. A cinematic wedding film, while it will include elements of “live action” is going to be more stylized, with a composed soundtrack, cutting from special moment to special moment and probably coupled with some slow motion for added effect.
